In recent years we have found more podiatrists either wanting drill faults repaired or servicing them to be more reliable long term.
There is a limited number of companies who specialise in the relatively small Podiatry Drill industry and are able to assess, diagnose and resolve faults.
Our lead technician has over 20 years electronics and diagnostics experience. He has been factory trained in Germany by Hadewe and we have access to parts direct from Europe - He is based in our service centre in Dunedin.
All drills we be assessed on arrival and you will receive a documented technician report with quote.
We can offer loan drills subject to availability – please contact us prior to sending your drill if you require this service.
Podiatry drill handpieces can rotate at up to 40,000 revolutions per minute. Like your car there are mechanical items inside the handpiece and drill unit that require lubrication or replacement as they are worn over time.
Drills can require maintenance for various reasons:
- Lots of usage
- Little usage
- Contamination from dust/liquids
- Poor cleaning practices
- Not following manufacturer guidelines
The nature of a dust extraction or spray drill is that it is in contact with tiny particles of nail/skin dust on a regular basis. This dust can enter the mechanical parts and if left can cause problems such as blockages, rust, and overheating.
Three photos below demonstrate what you 'cant see' inside your drill.
1. Dust and gauze sucked up through the pipe clogging the handpiece and causing it to overheat
2. Carbon brushes from suction motor - worn vs new.
3. Internal workings of chuck part of Hadewe handpiece - excluding motor.
